SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, that is used to validate if an email message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a domain name will prevent the counterfeiting of emails made with the domain. In simple words: activating this function for a domain name makes a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers which are permitted to send emails from mailboxes using the domain. When this record propagates globally, it exists on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When a new email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses tests if it comes from an approved server. When it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, but if it does not originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it is rejected. Thus nobody will be able to mask an email address and make it appear as if you're sending spam. This approach is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

The SPF protection feature is available by default with every single cloud hosting package that we offer and you can use it without any difficulty in order to protect the e-mails for any domain hosted as part of your account. The service is managed through the Emails section of the advanced, albeit intuitive Hepsia Control Panel. All you need to enable the protection is to type the IP of the mail server as well as its hostname - mail.server.com, for instance. As soon as the protection is activated, only this server will be able to send email messages from e-mails made under the domain that you've picked. Your e-mails can be handled by a different company, but in case that we handle them along with your website, you can also enable an option for e-mails to be sent only when the domain has our MX records. This selection provides you with superior protection as exclusively our server will be permitted to send out e-mails from your mailboxes and you will have improved control. When you have any questions or in case you have any troubles with this service, you can contact our tech support team at any time and they will give you a hand without delay.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute is featured with all the Linux semi-dedicated hosting, so in case you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you can activate this service easily for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a quite easy to work with interface, which means that you will not have to be tech-savvy in order to secure your e-mails. You will simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be permitted to send out emails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be activated for the domain that you have selected. As an extra option, we also allow you to limit the outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes even better by allowing messages to be sent only when the domain name involved includes our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain should be managed on our end and not by some other company. In this way you'll have even superior control and there will not be any chance for someone to fake your emails for malicious uses.
