Varnish is a web application accelerator platform, which caches content for the sake of faster response times. It is occasionally referred to as a caching HTTP reverse proxy too and it works between a web server and its users. When a visitor loads a specific webpage, its content is requested by the browser, and then the web server processes this browser request and returns the required info. If Varnish is activated for a certain website, it will cache the pages at the first visit and if the visitor accesses a cached page again, the data will be delivered by the caching platform and not by the server. The boosted speed is a result of the much faster response time that Varnish offers compared with any server software. Of course, this does not mean that the website visitors will continue being served the same content over and over again, since any update on any of the pages is reflected in the content that Varnish keeps in its memory.

Varnish in Cloud Hosting

In case you host your websites in a cloud hosting account with us, you will be able to add Varnish with several clicks via your Control Panel. The content caching platform is offered as an optional upgrade with all our shared web hosting packages and you can select how many sites will use it and the total amount of system memory that will be available for the cached content. The two features that can be upgraded in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel are the amount of system memory and the number of instances and they aren’t directly linked to each other, so you can decide whether you want a lot of memory for a single large site or less memory for several smaller ones. You can unlock the full potential of Varnish in case the websites use a dedicated IP address. With the Control Panel, you can effortlessly start/restart/disable an instance, clear the cached content independently for each site which uses the Varnish platform or see a comprehensive log file.

Varnish in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All our Linux semi-dedicated hosting include Varnish by default, so you can make full use of the web accelerator and increase the loading speed of any website that you host on our semi-dedicated servers. You will get 64 megabytes of system memory particularly for the Varnish accelerator at no extra charge and you will be able to enable an instance with no more than a couple of clicks of the mouse via the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated server plans. In case you want more memory, the latter is available in increments of 32 megabytes through the Control Panel’s Upgrades section and it will be available to you straight away. You can also order more instances as an upgrade, so you can decide if plenty of content will be cached for a single website or if the available memory will be used by multiple sites. Hepsia will permit you to reboot or to terminate any instance, to view the system log file for it or to clear the cached files using 1-click buttons. To take full advantage of the Varnish accelerator, you can allocate a dedicated IP address to the sites that will employ it.

Varnish in VPS

The Varnish content caching platform is included by default with each of the VPS that we offer given that the Virtual Private Server is ordered with the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, so you can enhance the work of your websites with only a couple of mouse clicks. The more powerful the plan, the more system memory will be available to Varnish, but even with a lower-end plan, the platform will be able to utilize several hundred MB, so even if you have several sites, you will notice a great reduction in the overall server load and a substantially better web page load speed. The platform will need to work for a while as the users browse the website and once the content has been cached, you’ll perceive the result. One of the pros of using Varnish is that a lower-end and less expensive VPS plan will do the same job as a more costly one without the caching platform, so not only will your sites perform substantially better, but you will also spare some money.

Varnish in Dedicated Hosting

All Linux dedicated hosting that are ordered with the custom-developed Hepsia hosting Control Panel include Varnish, which is one of the pre-installed software platforms that you’ll get with the dedicated server. The Varnish content caching platform can be enabled and administered without any effort from Hepsia’s time and effort saving graphical interface and, with no more than one click of the mouse, you can view a comprehensive log, add or reboot an instance, delete the cached data for any website and much, much more. Soon after you set up the Varnish platform for a given domain or subdomain, it will start caching the webpages requested by your visitors and as soon as it has cached enough content, you will observe a tremendously faster website performance plus a decreased server load. With Varnish-dedicated memory starting at 3 GB, you’ll be able to use the platform for workload distribution purposes even if you run a huge number of Internet sites on the machine.
